Measurement & Evaluation

Teachers regularly and continuously measure and evaluate learners’ performance in teaching-learning activities by using diverse assessment techniques, e.g., asking questions, observing, examining homework, assessing projects, tasks/assignments and portfolios, and written tests, etc. Teachers will conduct evaluations themselves or provide learners with opportunities for self-evaluation, peer-to-peer evaluation, and evaluation by parents. The assessment used is authentic assessments that measure students' ability to apply skills and knowledge in real-world contexts. They often require students to perform tasks that are similar to those they would encounter in professional or everyday life.

English Retelling Exercise

The English class involving a retelling exercise, where students were tasked with retelling the 'Adventure at Sandy Cove' through role-playing, can be considered an authentic assessment. This activity requires students to apply language skills in a creative and real-world context.

Performance Tasks

In English class, students are tasked with writing and performing a play or creating a video adaptation of a scene from a novel. This assesses not only their understanding of the material but also their creativity and presentation skills.

Case Studies

Students are given a complex case study that requires them to analyze information, explicate, make decisions, and provide recommendations based on real-world scenarios.

Portfolios

Throughout a semester, students compile a portfolio showcasing their best work, reflections on their learning process, and evidence of their growth over time. This allows for a comprehensive assessment of various skills and knowledge.
